Protective coating for concrete. How often should you apply sealer? The “water drop test” is the gold standard for determining if concrete is prepared to be penetration sealed. Distributors, builders, and homeowners can all benefit from this easy method of visually evaluating the state of concrete sealer, which we teach.

FIRST STEP: Wet the concrete thoroughly. Find out if the concrete needs a penetrating sealer by applying a tiny drop of water to it.

Just hang tight until the second step. Test the concrete to see whether it soaks up water or if it beads up. The concrete is obviously ready for penetration at this stage. When the concrete reaches the spread size of a nickel, it is ready to be used.

The water on your concrete should clump together like this and remain like that for five minutes. After that, you can apply a penetrating sealant.

Natural oscillations can affect the surface’s character regardless of the finish. Minor surface flaws, such as knots or grain in wood, as well as surface scratches, color variations, or shrinkage cracks, do not constitute defects but rather enhance the material’s distinctive beauty. Porcelain is the building block of concrete.
There is some variation in the pore sizes and colors across the material. Minor shrinkage cracks, uneven pore creation, and slightly varied coloration are common characteristics of surfaces that are not uniform. These are concrete’s intrinsic qualities that make it valuable on an individual basis.
Along with these intrinsic and inescapable qualities, concrete also has two additional crucial properties: it absorbs water and is sensitive to acids. Care and treatment of the surface are so required.

Two surface treatment options are available for our one-of-a-kind concrete products: hydrophobization and impregnation, and the BETOFF-P coating.

We are happy with the outcomes of our several tests on the BETOFF-P coating. Since it is matte and retains the appearance of concrete, water runs off with relative ease.

Two methods exist for preserving the concrete floor.

Impregnating and water-resistant
The concrete parts have been hydrophobized, polished, and smoothed. Then, they are impregnated or waxed to make them invisible (surface slightly oily).
Its operation: Impregnation, in which the wax or other material penetrates the concrete, increases its resistance to mechanical wear, such as abrasion. On the other hand, this treatment only protects against dirt and not acid. The black borders around the ceramics are a hallmark of impregnated concrete kitchens.

Thus, it is imperative that you refrain from coming into any kind of contact with colored and acidic substances, particularly:

  • Juices from fruits and vegetables, ketchup, mustard oils, chemicals, and powerful cleaning products
  • Spritz, vino, and vinegar.
  • Chemicals with a citrus scent or similar
  • Using the concrete as a surface for soap basins and dispensers
  • Natural hair care products and scents
  • BETOFF-P barrier layer

How is it implemented? The coating is both impermeable and very resistant to common household cleaners and liquids. Our coating has withstood acid and liquid penetration for approximately 12 hours in both laboratory and real-world testing. The lack of cut resistance is a drawback of the BETOFF-P coating. At all costs, keep the coating safe from physical and mechanical harm. Protect your work surface from cuts by placing pan supports under them. In the event of mechanical damage, the coating can begin to peel. You can reapply it or renew it.
